The main goal of ECO2Clouds is on assessing and reducing the environmental impact of cloud applications.
In the first phase (October 2012-September 2013), the following results have been achieved:
- development of the general architecture on top on the BonFire cloud platform (more info)
- a monitoring infrastructure with energy efficiency and environmental impact indicators (more info)
- a deployment and scheduling infrastructure, with optimization support for Virtual Machine deployment, and for Application deployment and control
In the second year (October 2013-September 2014), the project developed advanced monitoring, deployment, and optimization tools, based on an extensive experimentation performed on the multicloud infrastructure provided by EPCC, INRIA, and HLRS.
ECO2Clouds is developed as an extension of the BonFire platform, however the approach is general and could be applied to other cloud platforms.
More details on the project, the infrastructure, and results are described in the project newsletters, in scientific publications, and in the dissemination kit.
